Walter Reed National Military Medical Center is one of the nation’s most prominent military medical facilities, serving active-duty personnel, veterans, and their families at its campus in Bethesda, Maryland. PS was brought on as the glazing subcontractor for the Medical Center Addition and Alteration project, supplying and installing blast-resistant curtainwall, strip windows, and sunshades across the exterior facade. Working alongside HKS Architects and Clark Construction, our team engineered and coordinated these systems to meet the project’s stringent DoD anti-terrorism and force-protection requirements, while integrating precisely with adjacent structural and envelope components. Installation was performed within an active medical campus, requiring careful sequencing, tight tolerances and close coordination with multiple trades – delivering a durable, high-security envelope without disrupting the facility’s ongoing operations.
