FIU College of Engineering & Computing

The FIU College of Engineering & Computing is a six-story, 120,700-square-foot academic facility on Florida International University’s Modesto A. Maidique campus in Miami, housing active learning classrooms, makerspace labs, and research laboratories designed to advance the next generation of engineering talent. PS was brought on to deliver the glazing package for Perkins & Will and DPR Construction on this active campus addition, with work beginning in 2022. A standout feature of the project was the installation of bird-friendly glass – a specialized glazing solution that reduces bird strike risk while maintaining the building’s open, light-filled aesthetic. The scope also required handling individual glass panels of up to 80 square feet, demanding precise fabrication, careful logistics and expert installation to achieve a clean, consistent facade without compromising the surrounding campus environment. The building is targeting LEED Gold certification.
